The Pontiac Oakland Automobile Museum has been in existence for the last 11 years and pays tribute to the one time leader of car brands, Pontiac. Some of the most well-known cars that fall under the Pontiac umbrella are the GTO, Star Chief, Firebird, Trans Am, Tempest, Ventura, Grand Prix, and the LeMans.
Yesterday we had the extraordinary opportunity to film an interview with Tim Dye, the museum Director at Pontiac-Oakland Automobile Museum. Tim eloquently shared with us his deep and vast love for everything Pontiac, he also gave us a great history lesson about Chief Pontiac and Route 66.
The three-story collection includes a vast array of historic memorabilia from oil cans, to priceless paintings and sketches, classic and antique cars, and everything in between.
Tim’s passion runs deep for Pontiac; it's impossible to leave there without a new sense of respect and appreciation for the Pontiac brand.
Very soon Tim and a team of historians will additionally be opening the world's largest museum in tribute to Pontiac, the Pontiac Transportation Museum. What better place to debut this museum than in Pontiac, Michigan! This will exhibit the very broad scope of automotive history shaped by that city – which includes literally dozens of brands beyond Pontiac! The building takes up 55,000 square feet and will also include a theater, research library, classrooms, restoration spaces, and more. The museum is currently expecting a limited opening to the public in late 2022.
Pontiac is a well-recognized and important brand to the city of Detroit and we look forward to sharing their story in our film.
