There’s been a common theme throughout this production about not just the love of cruising but love that blossoms from cruising. Ruthy and Gary Bedard are a beautiful example of true love that flourished back in the summer of 1992. Ruthy attended a car show that year with her red 1939 Ford Coupe and Gary with a red 1950 Radical Mercury. Ruthy was in awe of the Radical Mercury that she loved so much, and Gary was excited just to see a girl with her own hot rod at the event. The two parked next to each other and have been cruising together ever since.

Like most marriages, Ruthy and Gary have faced challenges. 22 years ago, Ruthy Bedard was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. Gary explained their new marriage to their clocks after Ruthy became more and more tolerant to her medication before finding a new one that allowed them more free time. One thing Gary misses the most is Ruthy’s voice and although she can still speak, she is at a point now where her voice is impaired by the Parkinson's. But that doesn’t stop Ruthy from smiling big and powering through with a contagious positive spirit. Despite the diagnosis, the couple still make time to cruise, and have attended every Woodward Dream Cruise since its start in 1996.

We look forward to telling this love story in our film along with a few others that have stolen our hearts.
