Resto-mods are all the rage these days - taking a classic car and making it like new with contemporary engines, transmissions, chassis parts, and electrical upgrades.

President and CEO Gordon Heidacker and his partner Vice President Shaun Visser at PMD Garage LLC in Pontiac just started a new project doing exactly that.

We spent the day with Gordon and Shaun as the two car builders went and picked up a 1969 Firebird convertible at the home of Barry Martin, owner of Sonic Motors Inc.

Over the next several months, this rusted decrepit car will be turned into a stylish blue and white 1969 Pontiac Trans Am with a full frame chassis from the Roadster Shop.

Shaun will be building a new supercharged LS9 engine, the wheels will be upgraded to 17” YearOne honeycomb style, and the paint style will be the original 1969 Trans Am — white with blue stripes.

We will follow this resto-mod over the course of the entire build to capture the professional passion along with Gordon and Shaun’s very different personalities… This journey should prove to be both educational as well as entertaining.
